History

  • June 2011: Name change from IBt to Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG. The new name, Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG S.A., underlines the company's affiliation with the Eckert & Ziegler Group, one of the world's largest providers of isotope technology for medical, scientific, and industrial purposes.
  • March 2010: Takeover bid process by Eckert & Ziegler AG, which now owns over 72% of Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG. 
  • June 2009: Joint venture in Russia

    Signature of two major contracts with NanoBrachyTech, a joint venture that focuses on the development of innovative nano technologies for the treatment of cancer by brachytherapy and on manufacturing of microsources and nanostructures for the delivery of medical treatment. IBt holds a 15% equity stake of this Joint venture.
  • April 2009: Mandatory Take Over imposed by CBFA on all IBt shares

    In accordance with European legislation, the CBFA (regulatory authority in Belgium) imposes on two of its shareholders (Eckert & Ziegler AG and SMI Steglitz Medinvest) to launch a mandatory take over bid on all IBt shares, type ‘B' beneficiary shares and on all outstanding IBt D warrants. The imposed price for the regular shares is 3.47 EUR/share. The price is to be paid either in cash or in shares of Eckert & Ziegler AG, or a combination thereof.
  • November 2008: IBt Bebig grows and diversifies into Temporary Brachytherapy.

    Purchase of two products lines currently operated by subsidiaries of Eckert & Ziegler AG. Those two new businesses are focused on the treatment of Eye Cancer (Implants Plaques) and the treatment of Gynaecological Cancers (Temporary Implants)
  • September 2008: IBt Bebig group expands Spain

    The renowned Madrid cancer research center Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal has chosen IBt Bebig as its product supplier for radiotherapy products.
  • August 2008: Incorporation of BEBIG SARL
  • February 2008: Creation of the new market leader in Europe

    IBt s.a. and Bebig GmbH combine their activities to become the undisputed market leader in Europe in the field of permanent brachytherapy solutions.

2007

  • Incorporation of BEBIG Iberia
  • IBt is selected by Centre Cogniaux Dancot in Brussels to install a new generation of brachytherapy equipment
  • Publication in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology by the Radiation Oncology team of the University Hospital in Liège (CHU) related to the use of permanent brachytherapy sources for breast cancer treatment

Commercial developments

  • Start of the commercial activities in Romania with two well-know medical institutions in Bucharest and Cluj.
  • IBt Ltd, the UK distribution subsidiary, wins an important UK public tender for the supply of brachytherapy seeds for the treatment of localized prostate cancer.
